Roeselare summers with local products on your plate
Summer is finally in the country and they are happy to respond to that in Roeselare with the new summer offer ‘bitten by Roeselare‘. “Summer is Roeselare. We have a lot planned for young and old, such as the HAP festival and we will also have summer pop-up bars, in the Stadspark or at the Kop van de Vaart. And there are street art routes,” says Matthijs Samyn, Alderman for Tourism.
Flavor bomb
As a city of food, Roeselare wants everyone to taste all the goodies it has to offer. Some restaurants conjure up summer on their plates with all kinds of local products.
“A Rodenbach Grand Cru with a flat cheese with some radishes and herbs and something to dip. Then there is tomato-shrimp with fresh fries and a good fresh mayonnaise and then a coupe of strawberries,” says Dorine Vandenberghe of Fonduehuis La Paix.
Oliva and Christo from Pluktuin in ‘t Wilde Weg provide an extra flavor bomb on the plates of Dorine and other participating chefs. “Our product is above all sustainable, with an emphasis on the local. It is very important to us that we grow locally and seasonally, to the rhythm of nature.”
