Kevin Kuranyi leathers against stars of VfB Stuttgart

Former national player Kevin Kuranyi is concerned about the relegation-threatened Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart, for which he played between 2001 and 2005.

In a “Sky” interview, the former striker criticized the composition of the squad: “This team lacks the axis of experienced players who show the way, who hit the table and also get louder on the pitch.”

During his time at VfB, he had experienced players by his side in Marcelo Bordon, Zvonimir Soldo and Krassimir Balakow.

“When things got tight, they looked to them. They showed us the way,” said Kuranyi. The 39-year-old believes that the current top performers are not comparable to the pillars of the time.

VfB is currently second to last in the table. Nevertheless, those responsible around sports director Sven Mislintat and CEO Thomas Hitzlsperger keep calm.

On the one hand, Kuranyi thinks it is good to express his confidence in coach Pellegrino Matarazzo. But “you have to be louder sometimes. As a player, coach and club you have to know that you have to score points. You can’t do that with this calmness,” says Kuranyi.
