Käärijä’s grandmother’s family roots are from Posio.

In the municipality of Posio, located in southern Lapland, quite exceptional memories were distributed to children and young people today. Finland’s Eurovision representative Käärijä, real name Jere Pöyhönen, and his Anja-grandmothers donated money to the scholarship fund.
Headmaster of Posio schools Salla-Maarit Toivanen says that the Käärijä theme has been driving the students wild since the spring winter. In preschool, elementary and middle school, and high school, they wore Käärijä’s green clothes and some of the students made themselves Käärijä jewelry.
Käärijä was praised on Posio municipality’s social media channels and it was said that the municipal people idolize and encourage the artist wildly.
– This information reached Käärijä’s grandmother and through it also Jere. Jere’s grandmother’s roots are here in Posio. Grandma thanked us and sent Jere greetings, headmaster Toivanen tells Iltalehte on Saturday.

On the Monday after the Eurovision, grandma Anja contacted Posio municipality again.
– They wanted to thank our young people and encourage them in the future. Anja said that they want to donate 1,000 euros with Jere to our schools’ scholarship fund, Toivanen continues.

Of the scholarship money, 500 euros went to high school scholarships and 500 euros to preschool and basic education scholarships.
The value of the Käärijä scholarship for preschoolers to ninth graders was 25 euros, when 20 children from Posio were awarded with scholarships donated by Pöyhösten. A total of five Käärijä scholarships of 100 euros were awarded to high school students.
Creativity was emphasized
Toivanen says that he asked Käärijja and his grandmother on what basis they would like to distribute their scholarship donation.
– The donors wanted to emphasize creativity and creative substances. At the same time, we thought that since Käärijä himself is such a positive role model for people and a true creator of team spirit, we also emphasized this criterion in our selections, Toivanen opens the distribution of Käärijä scholarships.

The distribution of Käärijä scholarships was also seen and heard at Saturday’s spring party in a special way. The wrapper was thanked for his significant donation at the spring party.
As principal, Toivanen says that the Käärijä scholarships are a great honor for the entire municipality of Posio. He believes that the remarkable Käärijä year will be remembered with the students for a long time to come.
– Käärijä has been hyped here all spring and our students think he is definitely number one!

– It was wonderful to be in the ballroom today and tell the children who will receive the scholarships. The little ones couldn’t stay in their seats, it was such a great thing! Toivanen says with a laugh.
Posio’s Käärijä drug doesn’t stop there. The Käärijä art exhibition of artworks and drawings made by students will soon be organized in the premises of the municipal library.
