French police caught Belgian with 105,000 euros in cash: “I went to buy a Ferrari” | News

The trial took place on Thursday in La Rochelle, where the police already stopped the 37-year-old Belgian in December 2019 for a check, according to the newspaper ‘Sud Ouest’. He raced down the highway to Spain in an Audi A7. During a check, a drug dog, neatly packed behind the passenger seat, found 105,000 euros in cash.

However, 37-year-old Randy had a good explanation ready. “I went to buy a Ferrari for a friend,” he said. That friend turned out to be one Bastiaan (40), the owner of the money and “collector of old-timers”. Randy (37) stated that he had previously taken such a trip to Italy with 180,000 euros, but that the sale had come to nothing. Part of that money could now be reused for the Ferrari.

Investigations revealed that the two were up to their ears in the criminal environment and that the money may have come from drug trafficking – and therefore had to be laundered. The two could not attend their trial, as they are in prison in our country. They received a six-month suspended prison sentence, a fine of 50,000 euros and their 105,000 euros in cash was seized.
