National Beer Day: where to go to celebrate

Every May 31, Argentina has a day in honor of the most consumed alcoholic beverage in the world. Breweries and gastronomic venues join the celebration on National Beer Day with proposals such as 2 for 1, extended happy hours and special combos.

Since its opening in 2017, Desarmadero Bar and Desarmadero Session (at Gorriti 4300 and 4295, Palermo) have been chosen by those looking for variety, quality and novelties in terms of craft beers, with a curatorship that brings together the most important producers in the country. To celebrate Beer Day and the anniversary of these iconic Palermo bars, throughout the month of June they will offer a Desarmadero beer of your choice (Honey, German Pils, Irish Red, among others), served in an exclusively designed glass with the logo of the brand, for $1,300. Also, from Sunday to Thursday, that glass can be refilled with house beers for a special price of $800. To accompany it, the menu features homemade tapas such as vegetable fritters, fried lamb ravioli and triple-cooked broken potatoes, as well as homemade empanadas, burgers with juicy medallions and complete sandwiches.

Grizzly is a beer bar set like a mountain refuge, offering classic and special styles from well-known local and international producers. Located at Palestina 1107, Villa Crespo, this May 31, they will celebrate with an extended happy hour from opening to closing, at which time the beers of the day can be enjoyed for $800, cash only. Some favorites are Santina’s Rauchbier, Strange’s Hoppy Licht Lager, 4 Jokers’ Nitro Stout, and Hopson’s AIPA, among others. The menu of this place lives up to its blackboard, with cheese and cold meat tables, tapas, sandwiches and dishes featuring noble raw materials, provided by small and medium-sized artisan suppliers.

Baum is a multi-award-winning craft brewery that brings its strains directly from its plant in Mar del Plata. The Palermo Viejo venue is characterized by its Mexican spirit, which is reflected both in its aesthetics and in its gastronomic offer. To celebrate with friends, on Beer Day, everyone is waiting for everyone at José A. Cabrera 4427, Palermo, because they will offer an extended happy hour from 5 pm to 10 pm, with pints for only $530 of classic beers (Blonde and Scottish) and specials (Porter, Damn Honey, Old Ale and Gladstone). The pairing may be with tasty quesadillas, burritos and tacos, as well as street-food classics.

From 5:00 p.m. At closing time, all Growlers locations will offer a 2 for 1 discount on the craft beers that parade through its more than 130 taps. In its urban-style establishments, you can try traditional alternatives and innovative creations, such as Demon’s Cacao Porter, Postanak’s Irish Red and Extremma’s American IPA. In addition, its menu is full of homemade preparations to be enjoyed by several, with vegetarian or vegan options and without TACC, such as “tuned” potatoes, pizzas, small plates to take to the center of the table, hamburgers, sandwiches and more.
