Third man indicted for murder of Run-DMC member

Federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York filed the indictment on Tuesday, May 30.

A rap star who was part of the Run-DMC group Jam Master Jay’s or by Jason Mizell two men were indicted for the murder in 2020. Now a third person has also been indicted.

BBC and CBS News say that the person is 49 years old Jay Bryantwho was already in custody on drug charges unrelated to the Jam Master Jay case.

Federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York filed the indictment on Tuesday, May 30. The indictment states that the investigations have revealed that the three suspects were seen going together to the building where Mizell’s murder took place. The men were also seen fleeing the scene together after the shooting incident. The indictment also mentions that the suspect’s DNA was found at the scene.

The person himself has denied the charges. Counsel for the accused César de Castro tells CBS News they only recently learned of the charges.

– Giving an indictment in a secret jury with extremely little evidence is one thing. Proving it in court is a separate matter, Castro commented briefly.

According to current information, the male suspects face a sentence of at least 20 years if they are found guilty. In addition to Bryant, the charges have received Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington.

Mizell’s murder has been unsolved for more than 20 years. It has become one of New York’s most famous unsolved murder mysteries.

Mizell was murdered by a gunshot to the head in October in his own recording studio in Queens, New York in 2002. During the murder, men dressed in dark clothes entered the room, and one of the men fired the fatal shot. The person next to Mizell was hit in the leg. The murder is suspected to be related to illegal cocaine trade.
