French Open: “Healthy” Alexander Zverev is optimistic before the opening match

Alexander Zverev is optimistic about his first game at the French Open.

“I’m in a different state now than I was in Australia,” said the 26-year-old Olympic champion, who meets South African Lloyd Harris on Tuesday afternoon (around 1 p.m. / Eurosport): “Now I’m healthy. All that matters now is that I can find my tennis.”

At the Australian Open in January, Zverev started again in a Grand Slam tournament for the first time after the serious ankle injury he suffered in the semifinals in Paris last year. It was only enough to get into the second round – in the French capital, the German number one has much more plans despite the unstable form.

Zverev described Harris, who was in world number 294, as a good player. “He was in a very similar situation and hasn’t played for a very long time,” said the man from Hamburg, who has won all three previous encounters.

Harris, once number 31 in the world, had to undergo wrist surgery in June last year. Like Zverev, he is struggling to get back to his former level.
