Eva Jinek secretly turned ‘bright red’ during her TV confrontation with Jan Roos in the program Pauw & Jinek, the talk show star reveals. “I immediately felt red under the makeup.”
In the conscious broadcast of the election show from 2017, Jan Roos received a big sneer from Eva Jinek. When he noted that a reply from fellow guest Alexander Pechtold seemed like the airtime for politically correct parties, Eva bitched: “That’s just his opinion. We’re not going to say ‘politically incorrect parties’ when you say something, are we?”
Red Eve
The TV quarrel between Jan and Eva (see below) was much discussed, but Eva actually says that she does not enjoy these kinds of high-profile moments at all. “If it clashes with a guest, such as Jules Deelder or Jan Roos, I stand up for myself. I don’t enjoy it at all, I immediately feel red under the make-up.”
She continues: “I was raised very polite. But my mother also taught me to stand up for myself. If my mother were to host a talk show, she would draw people over the table. I am a very modified version of her. But I’ve always seen her stand up for herself.”
‘Sometimes you have to’
Sometimes it has to be, Eva continues. In the case of Jan Roos for example. “Then I am not afraid to use volume or force to point out his behavior to a dinner guest.”
Still, it takes some getting used to for her. “I have learned to laugh away, to embrace what I experience as a human being as uncomfortable and to embrace it, I have to withhold that discomfort on TV and let it happen more,” said Eva in a long interview with the VARAguide†
