Coach Marco Rose with a challenge to FC Schalke 04

Coach Marco Rose from the Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig does not want to give anything away despite the threat of relegation from opponents Schalke 04.

“We want to win the game tomorrow, we want to keep our rhythm,” said the coach. With the final in the DFB Cup on June 3, the team has “another highlight, so there is nothing for us to slow down, switch off, catch our breath. We want to stay in the flow.”

Before the last matchday on Saturday against Schalke (3:30 p.m. / Sky), Leipzig is already third in the table. Rose’s team had already qualified for the Champions League last week with a 3-1 win at Bayern Munich. The Royal Blues, on the other hand, are fighting for relegation as penultimate. “We shouldn’t be surprised if things really get going,” stressed Rose.

Rose does not rule out rotation against Schalke

With a view to the cup final, however, the coach did not rule out a rotation. “Of course there are considerations,” Rose explained. Nevertheless, he will “send a top eleven onto the field, but that could also mean numbers 11 to 16 for us, from the players who were on the bench in Munich because we have many healthy players”. For example, Rose wanted to see midfielder Xaver Schlager “possibly a little longer” after surviving his syndesmosis injury.

When asked about his contract, which expires in 2024, Rose emphasized that he felt “very comfortable” in Leipzig: “I still have a contract next year, I’ll be here for sure. If the club wants to plan for the longer term, then I’m happy to talk .”
