Pekka Virta does not see Jukka Jalonen’s NHL career as likely.
– The players would like to play hard and score a lot of goals and feel the joy of success.
This is how Iltalehti’s expert describes it Pekka Virta puck player’s mind.
According to the current Jukka Jalonen In Leijon, Game 7 hockey is played – which is the opposite of scrimmage.
Game 7 hockey is all about probabilities.
– Let’s play in such a way that we try not to lose to our own mistakes, summarizes Virta.
– It is believed that a flawless, safe and wise game produces a sufficient number of successes without risks.
There are a lot of statistics and studies about top hockey. Even the probabilities of goals can be found in “books and covers”, as Virta expresses it.
– How often about puck losses, possessions, overpowering, underpowering… There is an innumerable amount of that data. How should you play to avoid those things (which are most likely to be setbacks).
Jalonen’s Game 7 hockey should also be relatively quick to learn and assimilate, because not all players have time to study the entire EHT season.
– Things have to be simple enough. There must also be enough examples of them and a practice bank ready.
Individual-oriented NHL
PASI LEISMA
Could Jalonen catch an NHL beater with his Game 7 hockey and fulfill his long-time dream? Would the method even work in the NHL world?
– It could work well with the team – but would it work in that environment, Virta wondered.
– The importance of entertainment value (in the NHL) is huge. Individuals and attacks are the focus.
Virta “strongly doubts” that the NHL world would consider the possibility of implementing a Game 7-inspired puck developed for tournament conditions.
– At that level, the coaches aren’t so stubborn that they can’t also adapt to the demands, leaving their own things in their game, but still producing things that please the owners, the public and the players, Virta points out.
– Smart managers are able to lead in different countries and cultures. Jalose certainly has the know-how for that.
“Questions of Death”
PASI LEISMA
Virta does not believe that the NHL gate will open for Jalose.
– What else does Jukka Jalonen have to win for someone to think he’s a pretty good coach? There is a reason why you have to be part of the culture and know people in order to get to those (coaching) places, Virta says.
– Those are questions of death for the voters, if they take the risk and fail. That’s why in so many series we see the same coaches running in circles, because that experience in succeeding somewhere makes decision-making easier.
Virta paints the first Finnish NHL head coach to be someone who has already finished his career or is still playing in the Taala League.
– I still consider the head coach to be the single most important recruitment for the hockey team, he states.
– When choosing a head coach, it’s a big business and a risk. Experiments and notebooks are quite expensive.
