Regardless of the outcome of the championship, FC Bayern is facing a turbulent summer. The record champions will rebuild their squad in one position or another. Ex-national player Dietmar Hamann has now recommended a player to the Munich team that only a few have on the list.
In addition to a new striker, FC Bayern is also looking for a new six, according to media reports. A number of candidates have already been mentioned in this connection, above all England international Declan Rice from West Ham United.
Dietmar Hamann thinks Rice is a good choice. However, he cannot imagine that the 24-year-old will actually end up on Säbener Straße. “Rice is definitely a player for FC Bayern, but too expensive,” said the “Sky” expert of “AZ”, referring to the transfer fee of 100 million euros that is in the room for Rice.
Then who could it be? According to Hamann, a player who is not unknown in the Bundesliga, but who certainly not many have on the bill. “I think Anton Stach from Mainz is very exciting. He’s a worker, not that well known yet,” the ex-national player recommended to the record champions to transfer the FSV clearer.
Why Stach? “In my opinion, Bayern have too many stars in the team and too few craftsmen. Stach would be one of them,” said Hamann, explaining his unusual suggestion.
Does FC Bayern save up to 85 million euros?
It remains to be seen whether a commitment from Mainz is actually an option for Munich. It is clear that a purchase of Stachs would be significantly cheaper than a transfer from Declan Rice. A few weeks ago it was reported that FSV would probably “only” call for between 15 and 20 million euros for its defensive midfielder.
Due to this manageable sum, other clubs are said to have already considered a possible commitment by Stach. At the end of March, BVB, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen were mentioned in this context.
