Jail sentences and fines demanded for cannabis plantation above Kortrijk pizzeria
The police zone Vlas discovered the plantation in the summer of 2019 after a tip about suspicious behavior in a garage in the Kortemeerstraat in Kortrijk. It was crammed with flower pots, fans and other equipment that points to a plantation. The officers also found a black gym bag containing 15 packets of hashish.
The tenant of the garage box had a pizzeria in Wijngaardstraat near shopping center K. Investigators found a cannabis plantation with 570 plants there. “Mr stated that he had financial difficulties and had discussed this with a client named Rachid,” the prosecutor said. “Rachid wanted to help him by setting up a plantation in the building. He would receive 4,000 euros per harvest for this.” But Rachid turned out to be a Frenchman who still knew the pizzeria owner from prison in Lille. (read more below the video)
