The historian Paul Vanderbroeck with the actresses of the DilaliaDuett theater duo, Maddalena Recino and Ursula Volkman, who will stage a show based on a book by the historian on female leadership at the Salone del Risparmio 2023.
But why stage the queens of the past today? «Paul Vanderbroeck has identified four emblematic female figures who have been able to hold power throughout their lives, and has described their talents, abilities, strengths and weaknesses. The four careers of the queens were neither a coincidence nor a fluke, but the result of their ambition and their skills», say Maddalena Recino and Ursula Volkmann, aka the theater duo DilaliaDuett. The show – which lasts 20 minutes – will mainly focus on the great ruler of the Enlightenment, Catherine II of Russia, «a cultured woman, who frequented philosophers and was open to progress. Her strength was that of knowing how to weave relationships, as we would say today: creating a network. Always with the aim of making her country progress ».
At the Salone del Risparmio the relationship between women and power
The most modern aspect, which connects yesterday’s queens to today’s leaders, is the female way of living and managing power: «Women don’t see power as an end in itself but as a tool that helps them improve things» say Recino and Volkmann. «The message that emerges from Vanderbroeck’s book is that the success of female leadership lies in the authenticity of exploiting women’s characteristics in the world of work, without imitating male role models. Knowing how to express yourself, this is the solution».
The show will be followed by conference organized by the Diversity Committee of Assogestioni in which, in addition to Paul Vanderbroeck himself, Roberta D’Apice, director of legal affairs and representative of the Diversity Committee of Assogestioni will also participate.
