Market values Malta: up for top scorer Jefferson – trio at the top

Update Premier League

Transfermarkt have updated the market values of the Maltese Premier League, turning a quartet at the top of the most valuable players into a trio. While Jefferson (28; Gzira United FC) and Matthew Guillaumier (25; Hamrun Spartans) maintained their position and posted a plus of €50,000 to €400,000, Elvis Mashike (28; Hamrun Spartans) joined them at the very front. Its market value increased by 100,000 euros.

Mashike and Guillaumier were by far the best players at the champions last season, contributing 33 goals in the league between them, including 18 from Mashike. The centre-forward did not secure the title of top scorer, but finished second behind Jefferson, who had 20 goals and is said to have attracted the attention of clubs from his native Brazil and the Emirates with his performances.

Maxuell Samurai (31; Gzira), on the other hand, was made redundant. For the attacker, who used to be one of the most valuable in Malta’s first division, it went down by 100,000 euros to 250,000 euros due to performance and age. The attacker, like Joseph Mbong (25; Hamrun), is one of the biggest losers in the update. He has not really taken off since the right winger’s return to Malta and has often found himself on the bench. The consequence is a minus of 100,000 euros to 250,000 euros.

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
