FC Bayern Munich does not have to fear a long-term absence of national basketball player Andreas Obst in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
The 26-year-old winger had been replaced due to injury in the 87:67 against BG Göttingen and hobbled off the field. Head coach Andrea Trinchieri then gave the all-clear. “Fortunately, Obst’s injury appears to be just a bruise,” said Trinchieri.
Cup winner Bayern is one of the big contenders for the championship this year. Another failure would be bitter for the Munich team, because in captain Vladimir Lucic, Othello Hunter and Augustine Rubit three key players are already missing.
Three-point specialist Obst is also scheduled for the Basketball World Cup from August 25 to September 10 in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines. Germany will play their preliminary round matches in Okinawa, Japan, and will face hosts Japan, Australia and Finland.
