Eintracht Frankfurt: New “chance” for a million flop

Regardless of the speculation about the future of numerous top performers, Eintracht Frankfurt has made another personnel decision with regard to the coming season.

As sports director Markus Krösche confirmed, Jens Petter Hauge, who is currently on loan at KAA Gent, can be recommended again for playing time in preparation for the coming season.

“Yes, he gets his chance. His personality has matured. His difficult time in Belgium also helped him,” Krösche explained to “Bild”.

The Europa League winner gave Hauge to Ghent for a year last summer to give him more match practice there.

However, the plan went terribly wrong: the 23-year-old Norwegian played 27 competitive games, but was usually only a substitute. He only recorded five assists for Gent.

According to the tabloid, a personal conversation with Krösche was the decisive factor in Hauge being given another chance of probation at Eintracht Frankfurt. He appeared focused and professional at the meeting. It is also said that his fitness level is remarkably good.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Jens Petter Hauge has been a flop so far

At the SBU, however, Hauge has so far been considered a bad buy. In 2021, the Hessians initially loaned him out from AC Milan for a fee of 1.6 million euros. A year later, a purchase obligation allegedly amounted to more than eight million euros.

The return on this investment? Extremely manageable! Hauge only recorded five points (three goals/two assists) in 38 competitive games for Eintracht. His contract in Frankfurt runs until 2026.

Krösche and Co. is facing a hot transfer summer. Scorer Randal Kolo Muani, among others, is being courted by numerous top clubs. The Frenchman alone could flush more than 100 million euros into Eintracht Frankfurt’s coffers.
