London Spitfire takes first win of the season

London Spitfire has clinched its first win of the current Overwatch League season. Over the weekend, the only remaining European team in the league beat Vegas Eternal 3-0.

“We oriented ourselves a little too much to the meta,” Hadi “Hadi” Bleinagel summed up the three weeks since the start of the season in the winner’s interview. “We should have focused more on our strengths. After reviewing our first few weeks, that’s exactly what we’re doing now.”

The change of course appears to be bearing fruit. The first map against Vegas Eternal ended London with a dominant 2-0. While the team was only able to extend their lead in the second round after a tough overtime, the third and final map looked more confident with a final score of 3-1 for London.

After Vegas Eternal, London played Spitfire against Florida Mayhem. The match ended in a 1:3 defeat. This puts the team in tenth place in the West Region. Qualification for the Midseason Madness multi-region tournament, which takes place in Goyang, South Korea in June, is still a possibility.
