Vodafone FamilyCard: A comparison of the three new tariffs

Vodafone is reorganizing its smartphone tariffs. The new FamilyCard tariffs will replace the Red+ brand from June. There are then three versions to choose from – TECHBOOK presents them all.

Red+ becomes FamilyCard. With the conversion of its additional cards, Vodafone is not only changing the name, the new offers are also structured differently in terms of content. Although the additional cards still have to be booked at a main rate from Vodafone, the FamilyCard rates now come with their own data volume. This means that users no longer have to share the data volume available on the main card.

The new additional card offers can be used in conjunction with the Red, Young, GigaMobil, GigaMobil Young, Black 2019 tariffs or the Smart main tariff. As announced by Vodafone, the new FamilyCard offers are available through all common sales channels, i.e. both online and in the Vodafone shops.

Comparison of Vodafone FamilyCard tariffs

The network operator will be offering a total of three different new tariff options from June 1, 2023. In terms of price, they are quite close to the previous offers from the network operator. It starts at 9.99 euros per month; This is how much the FamilyCard S offer from Vodafone costs. Here, customers get a data volume of 5 GB, which, as mentioned, is available regardless of the booked main tariff and with which you can surf the Internet with a maximum of 500 Mbit/s downstream and 100 Mbit/s upstream. The offer replaces the previous Red+ Allnet Basic. In contrast, the FamilyCard M tariff, the replacement for the Red+ Allnet, includes 20 GB for a monthly fee of EUR 19.99. The FamilyCard L tariff has no data limit at all, for which Vodafone has not yet offered an alternative. Customers have to pay EUR 34.99 a month for it. The offer is therefore a cheap alternative to the GigaMobil Unlimited for 79.99 euros.

All three new tariffs also include an all-network flat rate for free calls to all German networks and an SMS flat rate. The minimum contract term is 24 months, whereby Vodafone’s FamilyCards can be canceled with one month’s notice before the end of the contract. If you want, you can also combine the new additional cards with hardware such as a smartphone. However, Vodafone then charges a surcharge, which varies depending on the device.

Existing tariffs Red+ still valid

Customers who have already booked an additional card in the old Red+ tariff can continue to use it to the usual extent. The option is no longer available for new customers. If you wish, you can also switch to the new FamilyCard tariffs from Vodafone. By the way: One of the Red+ tariffs will also be available after June 1st. According to Vodafone, the Red+ Data tariff, with which the data volume of the main card can also be used on the tablet, remains unaffected by the tariff change.
