WhatsApp is constantly being improved with new features. TECHBOOK summarizes the changes of the current update.
It wasn’t until the end of April that Messenger finally introduced simultaneous use on multiple smartphones. Now the next major WhatsApp update is already coming, which will bring a number of innovations.
Poll feature gets an upgrade
The update contains several innovations for the survey function in WhatsApp. If you want to reach a clear decision when voting in the future, you can specify when creating the poll that all participants can only vote once. To do this, the creators simply have to deselect the “Allow multiple answers” option.
WhatsApp is also expanding the search function to find previous surveys in chats and to keep track of ongoing surveys. In addition, in future it will be possible to filter messages for surveys when searching, just as it is also possible for photos, videos or links. On the other hand, as the creator of a survey, you receive notifications when someone takes part. You can then also see how many people have already voted in total.
Forward with caption
So far, when you forward a photo or video, the caption just disappears. If necessary, the explanatory text must be forwarded separately. WhatsApp now simplifies this process. There are now multiple caption options to choose from when forwarding. It can be deleted, kept or rewritten. Also new is the option to add a signature to a photo or video when forwarding it – even if it didn’t have one before.
Share documents with caption
WhatsApp has long offered the option of sharing documents with others. When sending a Word or PDF file, however, only the file name appears in the chat. To give more context to a document, users can now write a caption after the update – similar to captions for photos and videos.
When will the innovations come via update to WhatsApp?
According to WhatsApp, the new function should gradually reach all users in the coming weeks.
