Ski jumping women only get “half” of the Four Hills Tournament

In the coming winter there will only be a “half” Four Hills Tournament for women.

Record world champion Katharina Schmid and Co. will be jumping for the first time on December 30th in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and on New Year’s Day in Oberstdorf. After that, however, it continues with two competitions in Villach on January 3rd and 4th instead of as with the men in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen.

This emerges from the World Cup calendar, which the International Ski Federation FIS approved on Friday. The men also start their tour in Germany, but first as usual in Oberstdorf on December 29th, before heading to Partenkirchen on New Year’s Day.

Furthermore, no real “Four Hills Tournament” for ski jumping women

A real “Four Hills Tournament” for women, which was originally planned for the 2023/24 season, continues to fail due to organizational problems in the two Austrian stations.

There was also good news for Schmid, who competed under her maiden name Althaus last winter, and Co.: For the first time there will be ski flying for women in the World Cup.

However, only 20 jumpers are allowed to take part in the season finale on March 16 and 17, 2024 in Vikersund, Norway. The women’s flying at the same place last season was not yet part of the World Cup.
