Robert Triefus is the new Chief Executive Officer at Sportswear Company SpA, the company behind the Stone Island brand.
The former Gucci executive will take up his new position at the Italian luxury outdoor brand on June 1, Stone Island parent company Moncler Group announced on Thursday. He reports to the Sportswear Company’s Board of Directors, which is chaired by Stone Island President Carlo Rivetti.
“Following an initial phase in which the company took direct control of its key markets and developed a strong direct-to-consumer culture, Robert will now drive the strategic development and brand resonance of the Stone Island globally, in which he… always draws on their unique roots,” said Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini.
Triefus comes to Stone Island from Gucci, where he has held various management positions for the past 15 years. Most recently, as CEO of Vault and Metaverse Ventures, he led the fashion house’s innovative digital projects. He also served as Senior EVP, Corporate & Brand Strategy. Before joining Gucci, he worked for brands such as Giorgio Armani and Calvin Klein.
Rivetti is convinced of Triefus’ “outstanding industry experience” and his knowledge of branding strategies. “I look forward to working together to create this next chapter of a brand with an exceptional history and identity,” said Rivetti.
Moncler secured the majority stake in Stone Island at the end of 2020 and took over the remaining thirty percent of the shares in February 2021.
