Fresenius employees receive a wage increase of more than 8 percent

Employees of blood bag manufacturer Fresenius in Emmer-Compascuum will receive 8.4 percent more wages. Trade unions FNV and CNV have decided this in consultation with the management.

The increase will take effect on 1 April 2023 and will last for one year. In fact, the salary of the Fresenius staff would increase much less, as agreed in the most recently concluded collective agreement. Agreements have been made in this for the years 2021 to 2024. Wages would increase by 2.5 percent per year. But for the last year there is an increase of 8.4 percent.

The unions sounded the alarm at Fresenius because of the explosive rise in inflation. Although the management is not forced to give in to demands from FNV and CNV, it turned out to be willing to do so.

“The final result is not an increase of 2.5 percent wages as of April 1, but 8.4 percent with retroactive effect,” says satisfied FNV trade union director Janwillem Compaijen. “A neat result, even if we see what has been agreed elsewhere and given the current falling inflation.”

The members of the unions still have to approve the negotiation result. A vote on this will follow shortly.
