Volkscafé De Confessional in Dadizele closes its doors

It is the last time that the door of the café opens to customers and the curious. Many people just stepped in here to view the curious interior with the many statues of saints, which give the café a very special atmosphere. The devotion of pilgrims in the basilica continues into the café.

In May, many pilgrims come to the basilica to celebrate the Marian month and some end up in De Bechtstoel. But this year they will have to miss the café visit. It has been enough for Caroline Verstraete. After 40 years of tapping beer, 23 of which in ‘De Confessional’ in the shadow of the basilica, the café owner is looking for peace.
