The problems at Transavia continue. The airline has canceled fourteen flights to and from Eindhoven Airport for Friday and Saturday, the Eindhovens Dagblad reports. Travelers from or to Copenhagen, Seville, Barcelona, Faro, Athens, Lisbon and Alicante have been duped.
It concerns seven flights from Eindhoven and seven flights to Eindhoven Airport. Two to three thousand passengers have been affected by the cancellations, it can be read ED. Transavia says it is struggling with a serious equipment shortage. That is why flights were also canceled on Wednesday and Thursday.
Two of our own aircraft failed: one due to lightning damage and another due to a collision with a trolley at the airport. The company is waiting for parts from Boeing to repair them.
Aircraft on the ground
Also, three of Blue Air’s five leased aircraft cannot fly because it took longer than expected to get them ready to fly. Four of our own aircraft are grounded for longer due to major maintenance because parts are not available. All in all, 7 of the 45 aircraft cannot be deployed.
The problems at Transavia were already expected. At the beginning of this month, the airline already canceled dozens of scheduled flights, which affected eight thousand people at the time. For the majority there was an alternative, but an estimated thousand people saw their May holidays go up in smoke.
More cancellations are imminent
The problems are now even greater, so that flights for which aircraft were available have to be canceled at the last minute. Transavia warns that the failure of aircraft is unprecedented for the company and that even more flights could be canceled last minute in the near future.
Travelers are now in great uncertainty whether their holiday will continue or whether they can return to the Netherlands. People who report to Eindhoven Airport are referred to Transavia.
