Whether the free market on King’s Day in Uitgeest would continue this year was uncertain for a long time. Fortunately, the Uitgeest Entrepreneurs Association (OVU) took over the tasks of the stopped Orange Association and Uitgeesters were able to find a nice spot on the sunny Regthuysplein early today.
Although the flea market was not supposed to start until 8 a.m., some of the vendors were there much earlier. One of these early birds says that a place for her daughter and grandson is occupied. “They come from Akersloot and are now loading,” she says. “Yes, they are actually late. But grandpa and grandma are early!”
The Entrepreneurs Association Uitgeest says that they have ‘thought it through’ before they took over the organization of the free market. “It’s not just something. It takes a few hours,” says Roxy.
“We are proud”, her colleague Yvonne said when they saw the result of their time-consuming preparations.
