Chelsea FC – After beating Palmeiras: Havertz hungry for a title with DFB

London (AP) – After winning the Club World Cup with Chelsea, Kai Havertz has his sights set on further trophies with the Premier League club.

“There are still many big titles to be won,” said the 22-year-old, who scored the winning goal against Palmeiras, in an interview with Sport1. “This season alone we have the chance to win the Carabao Cup against Liverpool, the FA Cup and still be in the Champions League.”

Havertz is also hoping for great success with the German national soccer team this year. “Our plan is to become world champions,” said the former Leverkusen player with a view to the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year. “We’ll only do that as a team and I’m looking forward to the tournament. I want to play an important role in it and be a part of its success.”

In the final of the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi, Havertz converted a hand penalty in extra time. He also scored the winning goal to Chelsea’s 1-0 in the Champions League final against Man City in 2021. The fact that he was called “King Kai” after his recent success in the British media makes him rather uncomfortable: “Those who know me know that I would never call myself that.”
