Debacle at last minute: Jong Ajax loses to Jong FC Utrecht in the last minute

Just like the first of Ajax, Jong Ajax was also unable to convince. The U21 team went to visit last minute Jong FC Utrecht after a striking penalty kick: 1-0.

In the first half there were opportunities for both U21 teams at Sportpark Zoudenbalch. Young Ajax became dangerous via Misehouy and Hlynsson, but goalkeeper Gadellaa was attentive to Amsterdam’s attempts several times. Until the break, it was mainly an unexciting game.

After the break, a more attractive match unfolded in which Young FC Utrecht and Young Ajax both sought more attack. Halfway through the second half, the home team had the perfect opportunity to take the lead through Shein and Reijnders, but they couldn’t get the ball in. The game seemed to be heading for a goalless draw, but in the last minute Idumbo Muzambo had to pull the emergency brake. He brought a broken Utrecht player to the ground, after which Descotte was allowed to moor from eleven meters. He left De Graaff without a chance and gave Jong FC Utrecht the three points.

Young Ajax remains stuck in fifteenth place in the first division after the defeat. The team of trainer Dave Vos now has 40 points from 34 games. Despite the three-pointer, Jong FC Utrecht is still the red lantern carrier.

Young Ajax line-up: DeGraff; Regeer (Jermoumi/51), Aertssen, Warmerdam, Baas; Vos, Misehouy (Idumbo Muzambo/59), Hlynsson; Martha (Rasmussen/59), Banel, Godts.
