Russian hockey legend Vyacheslav Fetisov made a special suggestion Sport Expressn’s interview.

The two-time Olympic champion is planning to organize an ice hockey match in the arctic region. He wants stars from different fields to play in the match, so that the general public’s attention is drawn to environmental problems.

– At one time, we planned to travel to the North Pole through Norway, but politics prevented the organization. Now we are looking at other options, how we can implement this from Russian soil.

Fetisov estimated that traveling could be successful from Barneo, where the base of the Russian Arctic expedition is located.

– Or it can happen with the help of one of our nuclear-powered icebreakers.

In his playing career, Fetisov won seven World Championship golds in addition to two Olympic golds in the shirt of the Soviet Union.

He also played several seasons in the NHL, where he represented the New Jersey Devils and the Detroit Red Wings.

Great Britain put him on the sanctions list because of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
