Manufacturers provide an insight into the textile supply chain at Milan Design Week

Yarn manufacturers such as Südwolle and knitting machine suppliers such as Mayer & Cie have joined forces to provide an insight into the often hidden value chain of textiles at Milan Design Week.

The exhibition “The Elephant in the Room” invites visitors to delve deeper into the past, present and future of textile manufacture – from the sourcing of materials to the finished product.

“Although textiles can be seen and felt everywhere, their origin has always remained a mystery. Manufacturer labels are intended to be hidden in the neck or in the seam of a bag,” the Dutch textile manufacturer said in a statement on Monday.

The exhibits in the “Sala della Balla” of the Castello Sforzesco Castle are intended to provide a better understanding of the complexity and challenges of the industry. The twelve tapestries by Trivulzio create the right ambience, testifying to the rich history and craftsmanship of the textile industry.

Byborre organized the exhibition from April 17th to 23rd with various partner companies from the industry and also brings together experts from design, architecture and material for panel discussions.
