In the digital world, “Chatbot Generative Pre-trained Transformer” (ChatGBT) is popping up everywhere and now Zalando is also making use of the chatbot from the US company OpenAI. The Berlin online retailer is testing a ‘Fashion Assistant’ that uses the artificial intelligence (AI) of this chatbot.
This digital service will soon be available in the fashion segment in the desktop version and app, Zalando announced on Wednesday. From spring, the fashion retailer will be testing the beta version with a select group of customers in Germany, Ireland, Great Britain and Austria. It will be available in German and English.
The chatbot should give customers the opportunity to make specific product inquiries. The program then filters the range of products using keywords such as location, event and season and makes a recommendation. This selection can then be refined by the taste of the clientele. For example, customers can ask for an outfit for a 60th birthday on Sylt in September and the chatbot will analyze the situation.
“The new assistant is just the beginning: we want to get to know the needs and preferences of our customers even better and understand how ChatGPT can further improve their shopping experience on Zalando,” said Tian Su, Vice President Personalization and Recommendation at Zalando . “While we will continuously test new solutions and learn how customers interact with the new Fashion Assistant, our goal will always remain the same: to offer customers the best possible experience on Zalando.”
