The wrestlers Elena Brugger and Luisa Niemesch took care of more German medals at the European Championships in Zagreb.
The duo from Baden-Württemberg secured bronze in each case. Brugger, who wrestles for TuS Adelhausen, defeated Poland’s Jowita Wrzesien in one of the small finals in the weight class up to 57 kilograms, repeating her success from the previous year. Niemesch, last year’s European Championship second from SV Germania Weingarten, won her bronze fight in the class up to 62 kilograms against the Swede Johanna Lindborg.
The German Wrestling Federation (DRB) has four medals before the final weekend of the title fights in the Croatian capital. Before Brugger and Niemesch, Sandra Paruszewski and freestyle specialist Horst Lehr had secured bronze.
