From now on, the Red Cross sells plasters, Karel Sabbe buys the first

In terms of shape, the plasters are very similar to the old stickers. “It is a large, elongated piece of plaster, where you can cut plasters to size yourself,” says Philippe Vandekerckhove of the Red Cross. “And of course the classic cartoon characters could not be missed.” For example, the Smurfs are still on the packaging after 40 years.

The proceeds go to the local department of the Belgian Red Cross-Flanders where you purchased the patch. These departments then use it to buy teaching materials for their first aid courses and materials for aid stations at events. Consider, for example, CPR dolls. The organization can also use it to finance various activities.

A sticker used to cost five euros, the plasters are available for ten euros. “A new price for a new product, but that makes sense,” says Vandekerckhove. “The former price had not been adjusted since 1993, despite the inflation. Moreover, the costs that our 223 local chapters have to incur for their operation have been rising for thirty years.” (continue reading below the photo)

The Waregem-Anzegem department of the Red Cross has already sold the first plasters to ultra runner Karel Sabbe. “I am only too happy to support volunteer organizations by putting them in the spotlight. I also sense that it is becoming increasingly difficult for organizations to find volunteers and manage the budgets. I myself have done benefits for the Warmest Week. You know, you often hear: “Isn’t it expensive enough already”, but if you take the time to explain the goal, most of them will come around.”
