The US women’s ice hockey team has secured the world championship title for the tenth time. In the final in Brampton, Canada, on Sunday evening (April 16, 2023, local time), the German team who conquered the quarter-finals won against arch-rivals and defending champions Canada 6-3 (1-1, 1-2, 4-0) and won the first title since 2019.

Brianne Jenner (26th, 30th) put the Canadians ahead with a brace in the second period. But the Americans turned up the heat again towards the end of the game and used two power play phases in the person of Hilary Knight (57th, 58th) in an ice-cold manner.

The German team had already been eliminated in the quarter-finals and finished seventh in the final.
