A serious accident in the Tineo rally has resulted in the death of two participants when colliding with a tree, Julio César Castrillo and Francisco Javier Álvarez. The head of the rally is now in a neutralized in the center of Tineo (Asturias), from where he had to go down to the fairgrounds to check the vehicles. It is expected that the organization of the race, which is in the absence of two sections for its conclusion, suspend the competition.
The section where the accident took place left Piedrafita (Tineo) and ended in the vicinity of the town of Tineo. The events took place around 4:25 p.m.

Francisco Javier Álvarez was from Oviedo, from Ciudad Naranco, and was known for having been a co-driver for people like Roberto Solís, with whom he won the Desafío Peugeot, thanks to which he was part of the official Peugeot team in the Spanish championship. He was also a co-driver for Alberto Hevia and Ángel Paniceres.
The accident took place in a very fast area and, among the hypotheses being considered, is that the pilot suffered some type of indisposition while driving, so he could lose control of the vehicle and crash into a tree. The two, very loved in the motor world, had a lot of experience. Julio César Castrillo had now returned to competition after a few years away from it.
