Eveliina Piippo won the Lapponia skiing 2023

Eveliina Piippo won the marathon competition Lapponia skiing. Remi Lindholm men’s number one. Iivo Niskanen withdrew.

Pirkkala’s skiing greatness Eveliina Piippo organized Kerttu Niskanen the first defeat of the 2022-23 season on domestic snow when he won the final stage of the 80 km free progression of Lapponia skiing on Friday in Muonio.

Piippo defeated Niskasen by a good three minutes and became number one in the overall competition of the tour, which included three marathon trips, with a difference of two and a half minutes to Niskasen. Krista Pärmäkoski was third both on Friday and overall. Pärmäkoski already announced in advance that they will not ski in Lapland with the gas at the bottom. He was close to the winner in the overall competition by almost 20 minutes.

Piippo enjoys the spring hang, because on Good Friday he pumped the legendary Vaskoolihito’s 60 km traditional mittö to first place in Saariselka.

Sivakoi won the Lapland men’s competition Remi Lindholm. Leading the overall competition before the final tie Iivo Niskanen contrary to preliminary information, did not start Friday’s event.

The overall long distance competition consisted of free starts skied on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, which were 60, 50 and 80 kilometers (190 kilometers in total).

Piippo, Kerttu Niskanen, Pärmäkoski and Lindholm have signed up for the final event of the Finnish Cup to be held in Rovaniemi this weekend. Iivo Niskanen is not competing in the capital of Lapland.
