Roeselare beats eternal volleyball rival Maaseik and is back in the lead
When the large audience treats Knack to a standing ovation beforehand, you know that revenge for the lost European final beckons. And when the 3-1 victory is a fact two hours later, you can see the discharge.
Roeselare starts well
The storage pressure of Maaseik is not that of Modena. Coolman wins the first set convincingly with a score of 25-20. In the second set, Roeselare starts in a different line-up, but commits many storage misses, so that the Maaseik block pays off. Not much later it is 19-25. Roeselare builds up a gap of three points and keeps it until the end of the set. Martos can’t get past the block and Fasteland breaks out. The third set ends with 25-22.
Exciting final set
In the fourth set it is very similar. Neither of the two tenors of Belgian volleyball can distance themselves. It remains super exciting. The last point is also blood-curdling. Koukartsev HIS attempt is first caught, but his second attack with a place ball turns out to be the right one. The last set ends 25-23. Roeselare wins the game 3-1 and takes the lead with a game less played.
