The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich suffered their sixth defeat in a row on the penultimate day of the Euroleague. The team coached by Andrea Trinchieri lost 67:79 (36:40) to fellow favorites Real Madrid on Thursday and slipped to 16th place with a record of 11:22 wins.

Top scorer Obst cannot prevent defeat

In the Spanish capital, Bayern Munich stayed close to the 2015 and 2018 Euroleague champions mainly through their long-range shooters. National player Andreas Obst hit four of five three-pointers, Paul Zipser made two successful attempts from beyond the 6.75 meter line for a narrow 36:40 deficit after 20 minutes.

The threes didn’t fall after the change of sides, so the hosts were able to pull away quickly. Bayern only managed eight points in the third quarter. After all, Obst scored better in the final round and was Munich’s top scorer with 21 points. The 26-year-old couldn’t change anything about the 67:79 defeat in Madrid.

At the end of the Euroleague main round, the Munich side will welcome the Lithuanian top team Zalgiris Kaunas on April 14 (8:30 p.m.).
