This Tuesday the letter of invitation was released, which will be sent to the more than 2,000 people who will be able to attend the King’s Coronation ceremony Charles III and the queen consort, Camila, planned for the next May 6 at Westminster Abbey.
“To have been invited to play a small part in such a historic event in our nation’s history has been an incredible honor and the opportunity of a lifetime, the pinnacle of my career. According to the artist, the original invitation was made by hand in watercolor and gouache, and the design, reminiscent of the Coronation Emblem, will be reproduced and later printed on recycled paper, with details in gold foil. A curiosity in the illustration is located in the center of the card. There the motif of the Green Man was included, a figure from British folklore that, crowned by floral and plant motifs, symbolizes rebirth and the beginning of a new reign. Foliage made of hawthorn, ivy, and oak produce the shape of the character, as well as the various flowers of the United Kingdom.
Another detail, disclosed by the British media, are the flowers that adorn the outer edge of the invitation to create a meadow of wild flowers, in which all were painted in groups of three to indicate that the king is the third monarch to wear the Carlos name.
“Lily of the valley, cornflowers, wild strawberries, rose hips, bluebells and a sprig of rosemary to remember,” according to the press release from the Buckingham Palace.
