At the dawn of the jewish passovercalled passover, certain rules must be followed regarding food and food selection. This festivity is considered one of the main ones in the Jewish religious and cultural world, so it is important to know which dishes are essential for the celebration.
Be the trend or the tradition that is followed, Sephardic or Ashkenazione of the main foods of the date is the unleavened bread, known as matzah. According to the scriptures, the pesaj recalls the feat of the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery, who were subjected by the Egyptian pharaohs, escaping to the east thanks to divine intervention.
The festival takes place over eight days, during which the consumption of any fermented product from five different types of grains is prohibited: barley, oats, wheat, spelt and rye. The fasting of these varieties of cereals in the rite is crucial, any consumption would violate the traditional commemoration. On the contrary, Passover seder plate contains the ingredients allowed by the religious ephemeris: romaine lettuce (maror), lamb bone (z´roa), radish with chopped beetroot (charoset jrein), celery (karpas) and egg (beitzah).
For this reason, the intake of all types of pasta, bread, flour, yeast, cookies and fermented drinks or any product containing these grains is avoided. The most important thing is not to consume foods that contain yeast, called chametz, that a rabbi indicated in his payroll. The list includes these ingredients, foods and beverages: bread, pasta, cakes, beer, soy sauce, whiskey, flour, corn flakes, gluten-containing foods, pizzas, frozen foods, and foods prepared with baking powder.
On the other hand, the foods allowed by the rite stand out the guefilte fish, the well-known fish balls, which at this point are recognized by the gastronomic public in general. There are also the famous kneidalej, matzah-based dumplings served with broth or sauce. As for desserts, the range is wide, although if it is about typical recipes, they include leicaj honey or cheesecake.
