BVB boss Watzke moves to the UEFA Executive Committee

As expected, DFB Vice Hans-Joachim Watzke has moved up to the Executive Committee of the European Football Union (UEFA).

The managing director of Borussia Dortmund will take over Rainer Koch’s place on the top executive body for the next two years. There were no opposing candidates at the 47th congress in Lisbon.

Koch had made his international post available after his end as DFB interim boss.

According to the statutes, Watzke was elected by acclamation of the member associations. From a German perspective, former Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is also one of the two representatives of the European Club Association ECA on the Executive Committee.

In addition to Watzke, seven ex-co members were elected on Wednesday for four-year terms.
