Blocked on WhatsApp: These five signs reveal it

Last online

If a user hasn’t changed it in the settings, it will show when the person was last online or if they are currently online under each username in WhatsApp. If this display suddenly disappears and there is no reply to a message, this is either a sign that the person currently has no signal or that the number has been blocked from any contact via the app.

The double hook

A pretty clear indication that you have been blocked is that the messages are no longer reaching the person you contacted. This can be easily recognized by the fact that only a checkmark appears at the bottom right next to the sent message, indicating that the message was sent but not received. This can mean that you have ended up on the block list and that no messages or calls can reach you.

The profile picture

Another obvious sign that someone has blocked you is a missing profile picture. Because if you were blocked by a person on WhatsApp, the profile picture of that person is no longer visible. Profile pictures are only shown to users who are not on a block list. So if one of the contacts suddenly no longer has a picture, this can mean that they either want to do without a profile picture or that you have been blocked in the app.

The WhatsApp calls

The inability to contact a person via WhatsApp calls is also an indication that you have been blocked. This can also be tried to find out if this is the case. Because if you try to call that person on WhatsApp and the call fails, that’s a clear indication that the person has blocked you.

Invite to a group

However, if you want to be on the safe side, you can perform another test to find out if a person has blocked you. All you have to do is try to add the suspected person to a group chat, as is usually possible. If this does not work and the error message with the text “You have no rights to invite this person” appears, you have the last necessary indication that you have been blocked by the person in WhatsApp.
