Russian ice dance Olympic champion and two-time world champion Roman Kostomarov living a rough life nowadays.

Kostomarov, 46, previously had both his hands and legs amputated to keep him alive. He has suffered a brain hemorrhage, cerebral edema, meningitis and two strokes in a short period of time.

Russian Sport-Express according to the figure, the skater’s condition is so bad these days that he can no longer even chew and swallow his food by himself. He enjoys his food in liquid form and is trying to learn to eat.

The nurses and his wife Oksana Domnina help him eat.

According to Russian sources, Kostomarov’s weight has dropped from 75 kilograms to 50 kilograms. It is considered a critical limit for his survival.

Kostomarov also cannot sit without help. Sports-Express says that the nurses change his position every two hours. The Olympic winner also uses a specially made mattress that prevents bedsores.

Just over two weeks ago, it was reported that Kostomarov is able to talk to his wife. However, his state of alertness varies greatly.

– He is either awake or in a really deep sleep, because he is given a lot of pain and sleeping pills, Sport-Express’ source says.
