Following Groningen, the province of Drenthe will also demand money from ‘The Hague’ for the consequences of years of gas extraction. It must be clear within 14 days how much money is involved.
Drenthe will also soon be filing a claim. This is confirmed by deputy Tjisse Stelpstra (Christian Union). How much money Drenthe wants and what exactly the claim will look like is still the question. “We want to come up with news within 14 days,” says Stelpstra. “We do this as a province in collaboration with the municipalities that are also affected by gas extraction.”
That is – as far as the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe are concerned – not enough. They believe that the government has a debt of honor and want to see this paid off through funds.
