Woolrich, Fantastudio and women: Being a woman today

ANDbe a woman today, sang in 1992 the band Elio e le Storie Tese, joking about the meaning of female independence. But the event that was held yesterday in Milan in the Woolrich store in Corso Venezia, “Being a Woman Today” was anything but ironic, but a moment to reflect and vindicate for all women freedom to express themselves, tell their stories and follow their passions.

What does it mean to be a woman today?

To tell this vision of femininity, Woolrich And Fantasy studio have returned to collaborate for the second year in a row, after the creation in 2022 of the mural in the Stadera district in Milan where the creative hub operates, bringing thefocus on five female figures very different from each other but united by a common desire for transformation and the conquest of freedom. Young businesswomen who have invested their strength in major projects e putting our face on they dialogued with each other, in words but also in images, thanks to the shots and videos made by the project leader, Carolina Amoretti.

Woolrich and Fantastudio: 5 women, for all women

Founder of the inclusive brand FANTABODY and the creative hub FANTASY, Caroline Amoretti has chosen the female body as the main inspiration for her work, against gender stereotypes. Through her photos of her, she helps women regain their image from an exclusively female point of view, trying to bring out love and self-awareness. In her words: “In my shots women are never the object, but always the subject».

Singers, designers, influencers

Lüzai is a singer-songwriter who uses her voice to represent all those who feel unrepresented: «I started making music for this very reason», he underlines. Of Cameroonian origins, she wants to be an example for women with a similar background to hers, reminding them not to be limited by labels and categorizations: starting from the color of the hair, which varies often, to get to one’s musical genre, which hates pigeonholing : «Listen to me on Spotify».

Sarah Ricciardi: “Sexuality and design, two forces connected to the female entity”. Expert in relational design and passionate about theater, her inspiration is the women’s body. For her, sexuality is a design cycle that must be accepted, listened to and cultivated, just like a flower. Her vital call to the world connects us to each other without asking for anything in return.

Aya Mohamed, fashion blogger and content creator, believes that being a woman today is synonymous with peace, with confronting each other without prejudice and being intrigued by diversity. Openness, empathy and sensitivity are the necessary elements to fuel the desire for change and for an unparalleled personal enrichment: «I find it extremely powerful to tell where you come from, to self-determination. Freedom of choice is an invaluable value: for example, I love to express myself through fashion, I consider it a political act». And she, in fact, wears the veil by choice, which certainly doesn’t stop her from being one convinced feministOn the contrary.

«Realism and positivity: we lay the foundations for the protection of women»

Bianca Hirata, the latest protagonist of the project, is an activist, model and creative director. She is co-founder of #DONNEXSTRADA, a program that provides direct support to women when they feel in danger: on their way home alone, for example. She is committed to ensuring that the next generation of women feel safe in society: «it all started post pandemic, when I learned of the news of a girl raped and killed in London by a policeman, at 11 in the evening, on her way back . I couldn’t stand by and watched, so with my friend at the time, I launched a support Instagram page.”

A game that has turned into an association with 168,000 followers, turn to improve women’s road safety and protect them: i his efforts are laying the foundations for a better future, against gender-based violence.
