Between Löwen and HSV: The foxes’ ice bin is “in continuous operation”

The players of the Füchse Berlin were pretty broken after the 23:20 show of strength against the Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Because it was the second game in just 48 hours after the win on Tuesday in Winterthur – but both were won.

“It’s in the bones. But we distributed it well. Everyone has made their contribution. That was the key,” said Captain Paul Drux.

Without seven regulars, the Berliners defeated the lions on Thursday. “I’m incredibly proud of our team. The way she fought the game was strong,” said Sport Director Stefan Kretzschmar in praise of the effort.

After two games without a win in the Handball Bundesliga, the foxes are back on track. “The points are super important and good for the mentality,” said Drux.

But there is hardly any time to relax. HSV Hamburg (2 p.m. / Sky) continues on Sunday. “It was very, very exhausting. We’re walking on our gums a bit,” Drux admitted. Regeneration instead of training is therefore now on the agenda. “The physios have a lot to do and the ice bin will be in continuous operation. We have to see that everyone stays healthy and recharges their batteries,” said coach Jaron Siewert.

The foxes are hoping for another top performance from goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev in Hamburg, as they did against the lions. “He gave us the support that we don’t always have to score up front,” said Siewert. For Kretzschmar he was “of course the guarantor” for the home win. The Serb fended off a strong 50 percent of the balls.

And yet the Berliners long for the return of some players. Even if the promoted young players did a good job. “It can’t be a permanent solution,” complained Siewert.

Against Hamburg they hope for the return of a trio. “We hope that Jacob Holm, Fabian Wiede and Valter Chrintz are the players who can do it now,” Siewert.
