According to the Frankfurt (Oder) employment agency, the US electric car manufacturer Tesla is having increasing problems finding skilled workers.

Maintenance workers, electricians, machine and system operators, shift supervisors and foremen were wanted, said agency boss Jochem Freyer of the German Press Agency. Tesla has been producing electric cars in Grünheide near Berlin for around a year. According to the company, around 10,000 people currently work there. “We placed a good 1,400 unemployed people at Tesla,” said Freyer. “About half were previously long-term unemployed and received benefits from the job center.”

According to the Brandenburg state government, Tesla is a driving force for investors. “Today, the company is the largest industrial employer and training company in the state of Brandenburg. A project of this size strengthens the industrial location and creates jobs in a sustainable field,” said Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach (SPD). “This entails further settlements, at supplier companies, but also beyond.”

The entire value chain is represented in Brandenburg, from anode, cathode and cell production to the finished module and battery recycling.
