FC St. Pauli has extended the contract with substitute goalkeeper Sascha Burchert, which originally expired at the end of the season. As always, the second division team did not say anything about the length of the new working paper. The 33-year-old came to Hamburg on a free transfer last summer, and since then he has stood between the posts as a second-choice player in the Regionalliga Nord.
“Sascha accepted his role with us excellently and was in very good shape right from the start. With him we were able to take the competition for a place in goal to a new level. In this respect, it was clear to us very early on that we would like to continue working together,” said sports director Andreas Bornemann.
Burchert added: “I am very happy that we were able to agree on a contract extension at an early stage. It suits me very well in terms of sport at FC St. Pauli and my family and I feel very comfortable in Hamburg. I always want to develop myself further and I am in exactly the right team for that.”

The goalkeeper will remain with the club beyond the current season. Burchert switched to the brown and whites in August 2022.#fcsp
