‘And in 2024 to NPO?’

Eva Jinek provides a big surprise: after her season finale tonight, she will return on May 1, much faster than we are used to from her. “And then back to the NPO in 2024?”

It’s been a double year for Eva Jinek: at work she struggles with declining viewing figures, but in her private life she is happily expecting a second baby. For a moment it seemed that tonight would be her last TV appearance of the year – after all, she is known for her long vacations and she is due in September – but nothing could be further from the truth.

Fast return

Eva surprises friend and foe with a very quick return for her: already on May 1, after only six weeks of Beau van Erven Dorens, she will be back. It is unclear how long she will remain on the channel, but it is likely that she will finish the spring season and Humberto Tan or Renze Klamer will take over at the end of June or the beginning of July.

The rapid return of Eva obviously has to do with the fact that she is on leave in the fall and otherwise she does very little on television this year. That would also not be a good starting position now that her contract expires at the end of the year. She currently reportedly earns 1.2 million euros a year, but critics say that is not sustainable.

Back to the NPO?

Wilfred Genee pointed it out yesterday Inside today notice that Eva has been scoring so badly lately. “How is that possible, what is happening there?” the presenter wonders.

According to René van der Gijp, there is simply a mismatch between Eva and RTL 4. “She just has to go back to the NPO and she just has to focus on conversations that are about something. You see her struggle every time there is another one like Frans Duijts or anyone else. That is a struggle for her.”

Stinking best

It is impressive to see that Eva is not giving up, says Johan Derksen. “Despite the fact that she is not doing well, I think she is doing her very best. She is motivated every night, but if you have guests that cannot be credited to, then you have no chance.”

René: “For her it is simply best to do an hour of journalism. Nothing wrong with that at all.”

Finally, Wilfred to Hélène Hendriks: “It is really painful. You stood [met HLF8] behind Jinek now! You almost overtook Jinek!”

Caring for Eve?

Eva’s low ratings also led to speculation yesterday Show news. Presenter Airen Mylene: “Eva Jinek keeps losing viewers with her talk show. Should the presenter be concerned now that her contract is about to expire?”

Airen wonders. “She was the talk show queen of the Netherlands for a while, but her viewing figures are in dire straits with a low of less than 400 thousand viewers yesterday. Is Jinek’s talk show no longer urgent enough?”

TV expert Tina Nijkamp is then in front of the camera to give the answer. She thinks that the viewer is tired of the format with the same recurring subjects. According to her, people are waiting for a different kind of format, such as that of Today Inside. “And a lot of people also watch Arjen Lubach.”
