“It is unbelievable. We’ll have to see how this plays out in the end, but going from three to five is really what we were hoping for. Maybe secretly more than we thought.” That is what PvdA party leader Ward Deckers says after the exit poll in Brabant.
The PvdA has five seats in the exit poll. That is two seats more than the party won in the previous elections.
‘Take responsibility’
According to Deckers, the PvdA is appreciated for taking responsibility in the current provincial government. “Taking responsibility in a college is part of us. Apparently that is appreciated.”
Another factor is that the party has also been sharp in its own story, Deckers suspects. “More social choices are needed in Brabant. We must dare to keep Brabant open in order to build affordable houses. So that people can live in a village or city again, where they want to live. And that it is not unaffordable to live there, says Deckers.
“Energy prices and supermarket prices have all risen. We have continued to draw attention to this. When I see this, I think that’s the foundation of our story.”
BBB
The PvdA member says about the result of BBB, which stands at twelve seats. “It is an unprecedented result, they have done well. They have the wind at the moment. They score well on the sentiment that they respond to, for the farmers and the rural area.”
“At the same time, I must also say that the PvdA sees the problem differently. I am therefore curious what the BBB stands for other than just nitrogen and the farmers’ issue. They have come a long way into the States, now I am curious where they stand,” concludes Deckers.
