The Detroit Red Wings beat the Boston Bruins, the top team in the entire NHL, on their home ice in Sunday’s early game.

– I’m really proud that we didn’t give up, even though the opponent was a team that will perhaps be remembered as one of the best in NHL history, the Red Wings Derek Lalonde commented on the NHL’s website.

– We played well in all six sets (the teams also met on Saturday). I’m glad we got the award today.

The Red Wings already led 4–0 in the second period, but the Bruins tuned up Kiri and got on top of the goal. The home audience could only sigh when Andrew Copp placed the 5–3 final scores in the empty Bruins net in 59:36.

Olli Määtta toiled for the hardest game time, 24.14. As many as seven blocked shots were recorded in the statistics.

I guess despite being blocked Even for Ville Husso enough work: 33 shots, 30 saves.

– Husso made big saves, Red Wings skipper Dylan Larkin said according to AP.

– We were a little careless, but when they made it 4-3, we defended tightly and got the job done.

Larkin was chosen as the number one star of the match. He captured three (1+2) power points.

The Red Wings are still theoretically in the fight for the wild card spots.

Letang settled

In Sunday night’s second match, the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the New York Rangers on home ice 3–2 after overtime.

Kaapo Kakko was next to him in the starting Rangers field Vincent Trocheck and Chris Kreider. Patrick Kane had been transferred Alexis Lafreniere and By Filip Chytil to the chain.

In the final set, Kakko and Kane changed places.

Ketju Kreider–Trocheck–Kane created a 2–2 tie, which made the home crowd go wild. Trocheck tackled without the puck Yevgeny Malkin from his back to the ice, pressed for a superior attack and offered Kreider a chance to score.

– I thought it would be cool. The judges disagreed, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said according to his club’s Twitter account.

Malkin got his revenge in overtime. He passed Kris Letang’s the overtime hit that was overpowered.

Mikael Granlund played his fifth game for the Penguins and was ineffective for the fourth time. Granlund led the triple chain on his wings Drew O’Connor and Rickard Rakell.

The Penguins moved up to within six points of the Rangers in the Metropolitan Division.

The Rangers manage the last outright playoff spot. The Penguins are firmly in the wild card spot in the rock-hard East.

The Rangers will host the Penguins twice at Madison Square Garden this week.
